This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Underwater Journeys collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It applies to underwater.journeys.cy and to enquiries you send us through it.
Who we are
Underwater Journeys is a freediving, snorkelling and ocean experience business in Cyprus run by Lucia Sulekova and Jaroslav Pupak. The data controller responsible for your personal information is Underwater Journeys, Protaras, Cyprus. You can contact us about privacy on WhatsApp at +35799233827.
Information you give us
Booking enquiries. When you send an enquiry through our booking form we receive:
- your name;
- your email address, if you choose to be contacted by email;
- the experience you are interested in, your group size, preferred dates and time of day, any occasion or dive site you selected, and your preferred language.
If you choose email, the enquiry is sent to our booking inbox and we reply to the address you gave us. If you choose WhatsApp, your WhatsApp app opens with a prefilled message, and we also receive an email notification with the details above (without an email address) so we can follow up. Anything you then send on WhatsApp is handled through WhatsApp.
Contacting us directly. If you message us on WhatsApp or Instagram, or email us, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, phone number or username, and the content of your messages.
We do not collect health information through this website. If an activity requires a medical questionnaire or similar form, we will ask for it separately and explain how it is handled at that time.
Information collected automatically
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are viewed, how people move through the booking form and which page led to an enquiry. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring website. We do not send your name, email address or messages to Google Analytics.
Cloudflare Web Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure site performance and visit counts. It does not use cookies and does not track individual visitors across sites.
Hosting and security. Our website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web server, it processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

You can delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings, and you can block Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). Blocking these does not stop you from using the site or sending an enquiry.
How and why we use your information
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry, arrange and deliver your booking, and communicate with you about it. This is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you, and to perform that contract;
- understand and improve how our website works, and keep it secure. This is based on our legitimate interest in running a useful, safe website;
- comply with our legal obligations, for example keeping records required by tax law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the website and the business:
- Cloudflare, Inc. for website hosting, content delivery, security and cookieless analytics;
- Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited for Google Analytics;
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS) to deliver booking enquiry emails to us;
- WhatsApp and Instagram (Meta Platforms) when you choose to contact us there. Their own privacy policies apply to those services.
We may also disclose information when required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of our guests.
Links to other websites, such as Google Maps or Instagram, are governed by those websites' own privacy policies.
International transfers
Some of our service providers, including Google and Cloudflare, may process information outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under EU law, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep booking enquiries and related messages for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and booking, and then for 2 years after our last contact, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Google Analytics data is kept for 2 months. Information stored on your device is kept for the durations listed above.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- ask us to restrict or stop processing it, or object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us on WhatsApp at +35799233827. We will reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, in Cyprus the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection (Cyprus), www.dataprotection.gov.cy, or the authority where you live or work.
Children
Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 through it. Enquiries for participants under 18 should be made by a parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes, we will make them clear on this page.
